This is a photo of and island located on the Bay of Fundy near Duck Pond in Gardner Creek, New Brunswick, Canada.
An interesting story goes with this photo. A good friend of mine asked me if I would take this photo for he and his future wife for their wedding. I was more than flattered to take the photo for them. So, I figured, this is simple enough, I’ll go out on the next sunny day and get the photo. I’ve taken many scenic photos, so this seemed to be a straight forward task.
I headed out to get the photo, but the tide was very high, which didn’t exactly give me the shot I was envisioning. So, I decided to come back another day after checking the tide schedule for the area. When I knew the tide would be perfect, I heading back. The sky was nicely blue inland, however, when I got to the island, it was mysteriously foggy. “Okay”, I thought. “Guess I’ll have to try this yet again.” My third attempt was much better than my previous two, but I made a different mistake this time. The sky was clear, the tide was just right, but the sun was behind the island, thus hindering the lighting of my third venture.
Fourth time. This time I was even more prepared than each of the other times. I checked the weather, tides, and most importantly, I went out when the sun would be behind me. It was a success! I got an amazing photo that only required minor light adjustments and sharpening. This photo is my final result after my weeks of trial and error.
